Silver Dollar Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus cinerea) can be grown indoors with the right care and conditions, offering both a striking visual and aromatic presence. Its round, silvery-blue leaves reflect light beautifully and give off a clean, minty fragrance. While it’s more commonly grown outdoors in warmer climates, many plant lovers successfully raise it indoors as a container plant. The key is providing as much direct light as possible—a south- or west-facing window is ideal.

When grown indoors, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus needs excellent drainage and a potting mix designed for fast-drying conditions. A mix that includes sand or perlite helps prevent root rot, which eucalyptus is particularly sensitive to. Water only when the top inch of soil is completely dry, and avoid letting the pot sit in excess water. While it can handle some neglect, it's not tolerant of low light or soggy roots. Rotate the plant weekly to keep it growing evenly toward the light source.

To keep your indoor eucalyptus healthy and compact, regular pruning is essential. Without it, the plant can become leggy or outgrow your space quickly. Pruning also encourages bushier, fuller growth and allows you to use cuttings in arrangements. While it’s not the easiest houseplant for beginners, with attention to lighting, watering, and airflow, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus can thrive indoors and reward you with its beautiful foliage and calming scent.
