Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Aphelandra squarrosa ‘Snow White’, commonly called zebra plant Snow White, is a tropical plant native to Brazil known for its bold, dark green leaves marked with thick white veining that appears brighter and more pronounced in this variety. What makes this plant special is that crisp, high-contrast pattern paired with its glossy leaf surface, giving it a clean, almost graphic look that stands out even without blooms.

Light drives both vein contrast and leaf thickness. Place it in an east-facing window or a softer south exposure where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the white veining becomes less defined and the plant may produce softer, thinner leaves. Strong, even light keeps the contrast sharp and the growth compact.

Watering needs to stay consistent and slightly higher than most foliage plants. Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to maintain airflow. This plant shows stress quickly—if it dries too much, leaves will droop and not fully recover their structure. If edges brown in sections while the leaf stays upright, it’s reacting to humidity drops. If the base softens or multiple leaves yellow at once, the roots are staying too wet rather than needing more water.
