Sansevieria ‘Cleopatra’ (Dracaena ‘Cleopatra’, Cleopatra Snake Plant).
Native lineage from arid regions of Africa, where snake plants grow in rocky, mineral soils with intense sun, strong airflow, and long dry periods between rain. Roots stay dry most of the time, absorbing water quickly when available, then drying out again. This cultivar is highly collectible for its slow, symmetrical rosette and intricate etched patterning. Leaves are thick, upright, and slightly curved with layered banding and fine line markings that form a tight, architectural shape.

Light requirements.
Prefers south and west windows.
Place at the window or 1–2 ft back.
Grow lights 5000K–6500K.
8–12 inches from canopy.
Foot-candles: 1,000–3,000 for compact growth and pattern clarity. Tolerates lower light but slows significantly.

Watering & environment.
Allow soil to fully dry out between watering.
Use a chopstick or moisture meter to confirm the root zone is completely dry before watering again.
Prefers low humidity, strong airflow, and warm temperatures.

What your plant is telling you.
Needs water: leaves begin to feel thinner and slightly flexible.
Too wet: base softens, leaves may yellow or collapse from rot.
Light issues: stretching, wider spacing, and loss of tight rosette form indicate insufficient light.
