Philodendron ‘Summer Glory’, a hybrid of Philodendron gloriosum and McColley’s Finale with roots in tropical South American lineage, is a bold foliage plant known for its large, velvety leaves that emerge in warm copper to orange tones before maturing into deep green. What makes this plant special is that color shift—new growth comes in vibrant and warm, then transitions into rich, structured foliage, giving it constant visual change. The leaves are broad and slightly heart-shaped with a soft texture and strong presence.

Light supports both color and leaf size. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will cause the new leaves to lose that warm coloration faster and slow overall growth, while stronger light helps maintain richer tones and larger leaves.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy. If new leaves are coming in smaller or with less copper tone, it is not getting enough light. If the plant produces flatter, less defined leaves, it may also need more light. Yellowing at the base with soft stems points to excess moisture at the roots rather than underwatering.
