Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Paphiopedilum ‘Petula Dramatically’, commonly called a Lady Slipper Orchid, is a terrestrial orchid grown for its pouch-shaped blooms and mottled foliage. Paphiopedilums originate from Southeast Asia, growing in shaded forest floors with consistent moisture. What makes this plant special is the dramatic slipper-shaped flower paired with patterned leaves that often show mottling or striping. The foliage is strap-like, medium green to mottled, and grows in a fan shape from the base.

Light requirements
Place Paphiopedilum ‘Petula Dramatically’ in an east or north window for gentle, consistent light, positioned at the window or within 1 to 2 feet. A south or west window can work if filtered or pulled back to avoid direct sun. Under grow lights, use 5000K to 6500K and keep the light 10 to 14 inches above the plant. It performs best around 100 to 300 foot-candles.

Watering & environment
Keep the media lightly and consistently moist, never fully dry. Always check the root zone before watering. Use a fine orchid mix that retains some moisture but drains well. This plant prefers moderate humidity and steady airflow.

What your plant is telling you
If leaves become soft or slightly limp, it needs water. If leaves yellow or roots decline, the media is staying too wet. If growth slows or flowering does not initiate, it needs more consistent light.

“Bloom color and pattern may vary slightly based on individual plant and growing conditions.”
