The Harlequin Cordyline (Cordyline fruticosa 'Harlequin') is a colorful tropical plant known for its striking foliage, which features a vibrant mix of pink, purple, green, and cream tones. This ornamental plant originates from the warm regions of Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, where it thrives in humid, lush environments. Cultivated as a decorative houseplant, the Harlequin variety is especially prized for its compact form and vivid coloration, making it a standout choice for indoor plant enthusiasts.

Caring for a Harlequin Cordyline involves replicating its native tropical conditions. It prefers consistently moist, well-draining soil and high humidity. Regular misting or using a humidifier helps maintain leaf health, especially in drier indoor environments. Water with distilled or filtered water to avoid fluoride and chlorine, which can damage the plant. It grows best in temperatures between 65–85°F (18–29°C) and should be kept away from cold drafts. Monthly feeding with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer during the growing season encourages vibrant foliage and healthy growth.

When it comes to light, the Harlequin Cordyline does best in bright, indirect light. An east-facing window is ideal, as it offers gentle morning sun without the intensity of the afternoon rays. In south or west-facing rooms, it’s best to position the plant a few feet from the window or use sheer curtains to protect the leaves from scorching. North-facing windows may not provide enough light, potentially leading to faded colors and leggy growth, so supplemental grow lights may be necessary in those settings.
