Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’, native to tropical regions of South America, is a striking foliage plant known for its marbled yellow and green variegation across broad, soft leaves with a deep purple underside. The pattern is bold and unpredictable, with each leaf showing a different blend of color. Like other calatheas, the leaves move throughout the day in response to light, adding subtle movement to its visual appeal.

Light should be bright and filtered to protect the delicate variegation. Place it in an east-facing window or a few feet back from a south or west-facing window where it gets steady, indirect light without direct sun hitting the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K at 300–600 foot-candles. Too much direct sun will scorch the lighter yellow areas, while too little light can cause the variegation to fade and growth to slow.

Watering and environment need to stay very consistent. Keep the soil evenly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to maintain airflow while holding moisture. If the leaves begin to curl inward or edges crisp while the soil is still moist, it’s reacting to low humidity or water quality rather than needing more water. If new leaves come in smaller with less variegation, it’s not getting enough light. Brown spotting or edge burn without softness often points to mineral buildup or sensitivity to tap water rather than a watering frequency issue.
