Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Soleirolia soleirolii, commonly called baby’s tears, is a low-growing plant native to the Mediterranean known for its tiny, round leaves that form a dense, moss-like mat. What makes this plant special is its soft, carpet-like texture and fast-spreading growth that creates a full, lush look, whether used in pots, terrariums, or as ground cover.

Light should be bright but gentle to maintain its dense, compact form. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun hitting the foliage. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 12–18 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can dry it out quickly and cause thinning, while too little light will make it leggy and less dense.

Watering needs to stay very consistent. Keep the soil evenly moist at all times, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark that holds moisture while staying airy. If the plant begins to thin or develop gaps, it is not getting enough light or consistent moisture. If it dries out, it can decline quickly, while yellowing with softness at the base points to excess moisture without enough airflow.
