Syngonium ‘Moonshine’

Syngonium ‘Moonshine’ is prized for its luminous silver-white foliage that almost glows against darker green plants. This striking cultivar traces its ancestry to tropical Syngoniums native to Central and South America but has been selected for its exceptionally pale leaves. The nearly white foliage gives it an elegant appearance and makes it one of the brightest Syngoniums in a collection.

Place Syngonium ‘Moonshine’ within 1–3 feet of an east-facing or south-facing window. Because of its lighter foliage, it benefits from strong light to support healthy growth without sacrificing leaf quality. Under grow lights, use a full-spectrum bulb in the 5000K–6500K range. High-output lights should be positioned 8–12 inches above the foliage, while medium-strength lights work best at 10–14 inches. Too little light can cause slower growth and a loss of the crisp white appearance.

Water when the root zone is approaching dryness, never on a schedule. Use a chopstick, moisture meter, or clear nursery pot to monitor moisture levels throughout the root ball. A chunky mix of equal parts succulent soil, coarse orchid bark, and perlite provides the airflow and drainage needed for healthy roots. Browning edges on the palest leaves can occur if the plant is allowed to become excessively dry, while weak, stretched growth usually indicates it would benefit from additional light.
