Alocasia Venom is a striking hybrid grown for its dark dramatic foliage and sharply contrasting venation that gives the leaves a bold sculptural appearance. The leaves are elongated and arrow shaped with a deep green to nearly black surface and raised lighter veins that stand out across the blade. This contrast combined with the rigid upright leaf posture gives the plant its venom inspired name and makes it highly desirable among collectors who enjoy dramatic Alocasia varieties.

The plant traces its lineage to tropical Southeast Asia where many Alocasia species originate and grow beneath dense forest canopies. In nature these plants develop from underground corms that store energy and allow the plant to produce new foliage during active growth periods. Indoors Alocasia Venom grows upright with each leaf emerging individually from the base on thick stems while the plant gradually forms a compact clump as the corm matures.

Alocasia Venom grows best near east facing windows positioned about one to three feet from the glass where the plant receives gentle morning sun. South facing windows can also support growth when the plant is placed three to five feet from the glass to prevent stress to the foliage. A well draining soil mix containing coco coir bark and perlite helps maintain oxygen around the roots and watering should occur when a chopstick inserted into the soil comes out slightly dry or when a moisture meter reads around three to four. Drooping leaves yellowing foliage or soft stems signal the roots may be staying too wet while smaller leaves slowed growth or leaning stems indicate the plant is not receiving enough light.
