The Alocasia ‘Teletubby’ is a playful, upright Alocasia variety known for its thick, glossy, slightly cupped leaves that give it a whimsical, sculptural look. While this cultivar is relatively new, it comes from a family of tropical plants native to the warm, humid rainforests of Southeast Asia. In its natural environment, Alocasia grows on the forest floor where it receives filtered sunlight, steady moisture, and high humidity—conditions that guide how it should be cared for inside the home.

When grown indoors, the Alocasia Teletubby thrives in bright, indirect light. The best placement is near an east-facing window, which provides gentle morning sun that won’t scorch its leaves. It also does well a few feet back from south- or west-facing windows, where the light is strong but can be softened by sheer curtains. A bright north-facing window can work too, as long as the room receives good natural light throughout the day.

With enough light and proper care, the Teletubby Alocasia grows upright and full, showing off its shiny, vibrant foliage.
