Alocasia Teletubby 4”

Alocasia ‘Teletubby’, a cultivated alocasia from Southeast Asian lineage, is known for its compact growth and thick, rounded leaves with a smooth surface and subtle veining. What makes this plant special is its playful, almost inflated leaf shape paired with a sturdy, upright form that stays smaller than most alocasias, giving it a bold but approachable look that stands out in a collection.

Light supports both leaf size and structure. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will result in smaller leaves and slower growth, while too much direct sun can stress the foliage and cause fading or damage.

Watering and environment need to stay consistent. Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it airy. If new leaves are coming in smaller or the plant slows down, it is not getting enough light. If the plant droops while the soil is still wet, it points to excess moisture at the roots. Edges crisping while the leaf stays firm often indicate low humidity or inconsistent moisture rather than overwatering.
