Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Philodendron ‘Prince of Orange’, a hybrid from tropical South American lineage, is a self-heading philodendron known for its broad leaves that emerge in bright orange to copper tones before maturing into green. What makes this plant special is its color progression—new growth comes in bold and warm, creating a layered effect as multiple shades sit on the plant at once.

Light drives both color intensity and leaf size. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the orange tones fade quickly and new leaves come in more green. Strong, even light keeps the color more vibrant and the plant more compact.

Watering should stay balanced with good airflow at the roots. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. This plant shows changes through new growth—if leaves come in dull instead of bright orange, it’s reacting to light, not water. If multiple lower leaves yellow while the soil is wet, the roots are staying too saturated. Slower growth or smaller leaves usually point to light levels rather than watering.
