Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Philodendron ‘Burle Marx Variegated’, a cultivated form of Philodendron burle marxii from tropical South American lineage, is a compact, spreading aroid known for its elongated, narrow leaves marked with creamy white to yellow variegation. What makes this plant special is its combination of fast, bushy growth and bold, unpredictable variegation, giving it a full, layered look without needing to climb while still having strong collector appeal.

Light supports both variegation and dense growth. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will cause the variegation to fade and the plant to lean more green, while too much direct sun can burn the lighter sections.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy. If new leaves are coming in with less variegation or appear more green, it is not getting enough light. If the plant begins to stretch or lose its compact form, it is reaching for more light. Smaller leaves with reduced pattern typically point to lower light rather than watering issues.
