Nepenthes lowii (Lowii Pitcher Plant)
Native to high-elevation regions of Borneo, where conditions are cooler, humid, and bright with strong airflow and temperature drops at night
Highly collectible for its unusual, flared pitchers and slow, deliberate growth habit. This is not a beginner Nepenthes and is valued for its rarity and unique structure rather than fast growth
Leaves are elongated with tendrils that form thick, rigid pitchers with a wide, flared opening and muted green to brown tones. Growth is compact and slower compared to hybrids

Light requirements
Prefers east and south windows
Place directly at the window or within 1–2 ft
Under grow lights use 5000K–6500K
Distance from canopy:
8–12 inches for pitcher production
Foot-candles: 1,200–3,000 for stable growth and pitcher formation

Watering & environment
Keep media lightly moist using distilled, rain, or RO water only
Always check the root zone. Media should feel damp and airy, never dense or waterlogged
Requires high humidity (60–80%+) with strong airflow
Critical: needs temperature drop at night
Day: 70–80°F
Night: 50–60°F
Without this drop, growth stalls and pitchers stop forming

What your plant is telling you
Needs water: tendrils dry before forming pitchers, leaves lose firmness
Too wet: roots decline in stagnant media, lower leaves yellow and stall
Light issues: no pitcher formation, elongated leaves without traps indicate low light. Burnt pitchers signal too much direct exposure
