Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Microsorum musifolium ‘Crocodyllus’, commonly called crocodile fern, is a tropical fern native to Southeast Asia known for its bright green, elongated leaves with a distinctive cracked pattern that resembles crocodile skin. What makes this plant special is that textured, scale-like surface paired with a clean, upright form, giving it a bold but still structured tropical look. The leaves stay smooth and glossy while showing that unique pattern as they mature.

Light should be bright but gentle to maintain the leaf pattern and prevent stress. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun hitting the foliage. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 12–18 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves and fade the pattern, while too little light will slow growth and reduce leaf size.

Watering should stay consistent with higher moisture needs. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it airy while holding moisture. If the leaves begin to thin or lose their strong pattern, it is not getting enough light. If edges crisp while the rest of the leaf stays green, it often points to low humidity. Soft or blackening at the base indicates excess moisture at the roots rather than underwatering.
