Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Anthurium crystallinum, native to Central and South America, is a velvety foliage anthurium known for its large, heart-shaped leaves with bright, contrasting white veining. The leaves are soft to the touch with a matte finish, and new growth often emerges with a bronze tone before hardening off to deep green. It grows upright from a central base, producing larger, more dramatic leaves as it matures.

Light should be bright and filtered to support leaf size and vein definition. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can damage the velvety surface and wash out the contrast, while too little light will result in smaller leaves with less defined veining.

Watering and environment need to stay consistent. Allow the soil to lightly dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy while holding some moisture. If new leaves are coming in smaller with less pronounced veining, it is not getting enough light. If the velvety leaves lose their richness or appear dull, conditions are off, often light related. Crisping along the edges while the rest of the leaf stays firm points to low humidity or inconsistent moisture rather than overwatering.
