Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Cattleya Irene Holguin ‘Brown Eyes’, commonly called a Cattleya Orchid, is an epiphytic orchid grown for its large, showy blooms and strong fragrance. Native lineage comes from Central and South American orchids that grow attached to trees in bright, airy environments. What makes this plant special is the rich, warm-toned flower coloration often paired with a bold lip and strong fragrance, along with thick pseudobulbs that store water. The leaves are thick, leathery, and upright, emerging from the top of each pseudobulb.

Light requirements
Place Cattleya Irene Holguin ‘Brown Eyes’ in a south or east window for the best flowering, positioned at the window or within 1 to 2 feet depending on intensity. A west window can work if monitored for heat, while a north window will reduce bloom potential. Under grow lights, use 5000K to 6500K and keep the light 8 to 12 inches above the canopy. It performs best around 500 to 1,500+ foot-candles. Strong light is required to initiate blooms.

Watering & environment
Allow the media to dry most of the way between waterings, and always check the root zone before watering. Use a chunky orchid mix with strong airflow around the roots. This plant prefers moderate humidity, warm temperatures, and good air movement to prevent rot and support healthy growth.

What your plant is telling you
Wrinkled pseudobulbs → needs water
Soft or yellowing base → staying too wet
Healthy growth with no blooms → needs more consistent light
