Aralia Elegantissima 6”

Schefflera elegantissima, commonly called false aralia, is native to New Caledonia and known for its finely divided, narrow leaflets that give it a soft, feathery appearance. The foliage starts darker with a bronzy tone and matures into deep green, creating a layered, airy structure that resembles a small indoor tree. Its upright growth and delicate texture make it feel more refined than typical broadleaf plants.

Light should be bright and consistent to maintain its shape. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will cause the plant to thin out with longer spacing between leaf clusters, while too much direct sun can dry and damage the fine edges.

Watering and environment need to stay stable. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it airy. If the plant begins dropping leaflets from lower stems while the top remains full, it is reacting to inconsistency in watering or environment. If new growth comes in sparse with wider spacing, it is not getting enough light. Crisping along the fine edges without yellowing usually points to dry air rather than watering issues.
