Light direction plays a big role in how well an anthurium grows and blooms. Bright indirect light from an east facing window or a south window set back a few feet is ideal. Too little light leads to slow growth and fewer flowers while direct sun can scorch leaves and fade the colorful spathes. Rotating the plant occasionally helps keep growth even and balanced.

Water anthuriums based on soil dryness rather than a schedule. Use a wooden chopstick or water meter inserted deep into the pot and water only when the lower portion is mostly dry. Always allow excess water to drain so roots can breathe.
