Anthurium andraeanum, commonly called flamingo flower, is a tropical plant native to Central and South America known for its glossy green leaves and bright, waxy spathes in shades of red, pink, white, or orange. What makes this plant special is its long-lasting blooms that look almost artificial, paired with a clean, structured leaf shape that makes it both a flowering and foliage plant. It grows upright from a central base, producing blooms consistently under the right conditions.

Light supports both flowering and leaf health. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will reduce or stop blooming, while too much direct sun can damage the leaves and fade the flowers.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to lightly dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy while holding some moisture. If the plant stops producing flowers, it is not getting enough light. If leaves begin to yellow with soft stems, it points to excess moisture at the roots. If blooms are smaller or shorter-lived, it is often reacting to lower light levels rather than watering issues.
