Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Rhodospatha ‘Rojo’, native to tropical Central and South America, is a climbing aroid known for its elongated, slightly textured leaves that develop deep red to burgundy tones, especially on new growth. The foliage is smooth with subtle veining and a semi-gloss finish, giving it a rich, moody look. As it matures and climbs, the leaves become larger and more defined, creating a full, layered appearance.

Light supports both color and growth. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will cause the red tones to fade and lean more green, while stronger light helps maintain that deeper coloration and tighter growth.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy. If new leaves are coming in more green with less red, it is not getting enough light. If the plant begins to stretch with longer spacing between nodes, it is reaching for more light. Smaller leaves with less color intensity typically point to lower light rather than watering issues.
