Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Davallia fejeensis, commonly called rabbit’s foot fern, is a tropical fern native to Fiji known for its soft, creeping rhizomes that grow over the surface of the soil and resemble furry “rabbit feet.” What makes this plant special is those exposed rhizomes paired with delicate, finely divided fronds, giving it a textured, layered look both above and below the soil line.

Light should be gentle and consistent to support healthy fronds. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun hitting the foliage. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 12–18 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, growth slows and fronds become thinner. Strong, even light keeps the plant fuller and more balanced.

Watering needs to stay consistent with moderate moisture. Allow the top portion of the soil to dry slightly, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep airflow while holding moisture. Keep the rhizomes above the soil and avoid keeping them constantly wet. If fronds crisp or dry out, it’s reacting to low humidity or drying too far. If rhizomes become soft or dark, the plant is staying too wet rather than needing more water.
