Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Epipremnum aureum, commonly called golden pothos, is a trailing vine native to Southeast Asia known for its heart-shaped leaves marbled with yellow and green. What makes this plant special is its adaptability and classic variegation—each leaf carries a slightly different blend of color, and it grows quickly, filling out as a trailing or climbing plant.

Light drives both variegation and vine density. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the yellow fades and the plant leans more green while spacing out along the vine. Strong light keeps the variegation bold and the growth more compact.

Watering should stay balanced and forgiving. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. This plant shows thirst through slight leaf curl and a softer feel before fully wilting. If leaves yellow and drop while the soil is still wet, the roots are staying too saturated. Long, sparse vines with smaller leaves point to light levels rather than watering issues.
