Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Monstera deliciosa is a bold, tropical statement plant known for its large, split leaves that develop natural holes (fenestrations) as it matures. Native to Central America, it climbs in its natural environment, which is why it becomes more dramatic and structured over time with support. The size, movement, and iconic leaf shape make it one of the most recognizable and desirable plants for filling space and creating that lush, indoor jungle feel.

Light drives leaf size and fenestration. Place it in an east-facing window or a few feet back from a south or west-facing window where it gets steady, bright light without direct sun hitting the leaves. Under grow lights, aim for 5000K–6500Kat 500–1000 foot-candles. Too little light will result in smaller, solid leaves with little to no splits, while stronger light encourages larger leaves with more defined fenestrations.

Watering should stay consistent but not excessive. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a chunky, well-draining mix (soil, perlite, orchid bark) to support airflow around the roots. If leaves start to droop slightly or feel thinner, it’s ready for water—yellowing lower leaves can point to overwatering. Adding a moss pole or support will help the plant climb and produce larger, more mature leaves over time.
