European Olive Tree 8”

Olea europaea, commonly called European olive tree, is a Mediterranean plant native to southern Europe and parts of Africa and Asia known for its narrow, silvery-green leaves and woody, branching structure. What makes this plant special is its classic, airy canopy paired with that soft gray-green tone, giving it a refined, sun-soaked look indoors or outdoors.

Light is critical—this plant needs strong, direct exposure to stay healthy. Place it directly in a south-facing window where it receives as much direct sun as possible throughout the day. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 6–10 inches from the top of the plant with wide coverage. In lower light, the plant will thin out quickly, drop leaves, and lose density. Strong light keeps the foliage fuller and the structure more stable.

Watering should be moderate but well controlled. Allow the soil to dry out most of the way between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a fast-draining mix with added perlite for airflow. This plant prefers to dry out more than most trees—if leaves yellow and drop while the soil is wet, the roots are staying too saturated. If leaves become dry and crispy while the soil is dry, it has gone too long without water. Leaf drop is usually tied to light or watering consistency, not just one factor.
