Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Ficus pumila ‘Variegata’, commonly called variegated creeping fig, is a fast-growing vine native to East Asia known for its small, delicate leaves edged in creamy white over a green center. What makes this plant special is its high-contrast variegation paired with its ability to cling and spread, creating a lighter, more dimensional look compared to the solid green form while still forming dense coverage.

Light drives both variegation and density. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady, bright light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the variegation will fade and the plant will revert more green while spacing out along the vine. Strong, even light keeps the edges crisp and the growth tight.

Watering needs to stay consistent and slightly more attentive than the green form. Allow the top portion of the soil to dry slightly, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep airflow while holding moisture. This plant will drop leaves quickly if it dries out too far, especially the variegated sections first. If leaves yellow while the soil is still wet, the roots are staying too saturated. Patchy thinning usually points to uneven light rather than watering issues.
