Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Alternanthera ‘Choco Chili’ is a colorful tropical foliage plant grown for its rich chocolate-bronze leaves with deep burgundy and purple undertones. Native to warm regions of Central and South America, Alternanthera is prized for its dramatic contrast in containers, garden beds, and mixed plantings. ‘Choco Chili’ stays relatively compact, making it an excellent choice for adding bold color without taking up excessive space. The foliage develops its deepest coloration when provided with strong light.

For the best color and growth, place ‘Choco Chili’ in a south- or west-facing window indoors, or outdoors in full sun to partial sun. A location receiving 1,500–5,000 foot-candles will produce the richest foliage coloration. Under grow lights, use a 5000K–6500K full-spectrum fixture positioned 8–12 inches above the canopy. Lower light conditions can cause the plant to become greener, stretch, and lose some of its signature chocolate tones.

Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings, but do not let it remain completely dry for extended periods. This plant prefers evenly moist, well-draining soil and performs best in warm temperatures above 65°F. Leaves may become crispy along the edges if the soil dries too much, while yellowing lower leaves often indicate overly wet conditions. If growth becomes sparse or stems begin reaching, the plant is asking for more light. Regular pinching of the growing tips encourages a fuller, bushier plant with more vibrant foliage.
