The Wandering Jew Rainbow—often called Tradescantia zebrina ‘Rainbow’ or Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Tricolor’depending on the variety—is a striking houseplant known for its vivid streaks of pink, cream, green, and sometimes purple. Its trailing stems and variegated leaves make it a favorite for hanging baskets or shelf displays where the colors can spill over the edges. To bring out its boldest hues, place it in bright, indirect light from the east or north, where the sun is gentle but abundant enough to intensify the rainbow coloration.

Caring for this plant is relatively easy, making it ideal for beginners. It thrives in moderate to bright filtered light, and an east-facing window often gives the perfect balance: bright morning sun without the harsher afternoon rays. A north-facing window also works well for softer, consistent light. Watering should be moderate—keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy, as too much water can lead to root rot. Occasional trimming helps maintain fuller, bushier growth and prevents the long stems from becoming sparse.
