The Snake Plant, also known as Sansevieria trifasciata or Dracaena trifasciata, is native to West Africa, particularly Nigeria and the Congo region. It has become one of the most popular indoor plants worldwide due to its striking, upright sword-shaped leaves and its remarkable hardiness. Often referred to as "mother-in-law's tongue," it is known for both its architectural look and its air-purifying qualities.

Care:
Snake Plants are extremely low-maintenance and ideal for beginners. They thrive in well-draining soil and require infrequent watering—about every 2 to 3 weeks—allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of issues, as it can lead to root rot. These plants do not require much feeding, but a diluted general-purpose fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer) can promote healthy growth. They also tolerate a wide range of indoor humidity levels.

Light Requirements:
Snake Plants are highly adaptable when it comes to light. They perform best in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low-light conditions, making them suitable for darker corners or rooms with limited natural sunlight. While they can handle some direct sunlight, especially in the morning or late afternoon, intense midday sun can cause leaf burn. Their ability to thrive in varied lighting makes them a versatile choice for nearly any room in the home.
