Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Tillandsia, commonly called air plants, are epiphytic plants native to Central and South America that grow without soil, attaching to trees, rocks, or other surfaces. What makes these plants special is their ability to absorb water and nutrients directly through their leaves using specialized cells, giving them a clean, minimal look that can be displayed almost anywhere.

Light drives both structure and color. Place air plants in an east or south-facing window where they receive bright, indirect light with some gentle direct sun. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 8–12 inches from the plant. In lower light, they become thinner, greener, and slower growing. In stronger light, especially with good airflow, they stay more compact and can develop subtle color changes depending on the variety.

Watering is based on full saturation followed by complete drying. Soak the plant in water for 20–30 minutes 1–2 times per week, then shake off excess water and allow it to dry upside down within a few hours. This plant shows stress clearly—if leaves curl inward and feel stiff, it needs more water. If the base turns dark or soft, it is staying wet too long. Healthy air plants should feel flexible, not brittle or mushy.
