Spathiphyllum ‘Sensation Mint’, a variegated form of the large peace lily from tropical Central and South American lineage, is known for its oversized, deeply ribbed leaves streaked with minty white and light green variegation. What makes this plant special is its scale and pattern—the massive, architectural foliage paired with soft, brushed variegation gives it a bold yet refined, high-end look. It grows upright from a central base, forming a full, statement plant.
Light should be bright but gentle to protect the variegation and support leaf size. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady, filtered light without direct sun hitting the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can burn or wash out the mint pattern, while too little light will reduce variegation and slow growth.
Watering should stay consistent with slightly higher moisture needs. Keep the soil evenly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it airy while holding moisture. If the leaves begin to droop, it is often ready for water, but should recover quickly after watering. If new leaves are coming in smaller with less variegation, it is not getting enough light. Yellowing leaves with soft stems point to excess moisture at the roots rather than underwatering.

The plant arrived in perfect condition and is beautiful. I love it!
Despite the “beginner” name, I’d say it’s genuinely useful at any experience level. It starts with a solid foundation for those just getting into houseplants, but the depth of the later guides means it doesn’t feel like it’s talking down to anyone with more experience. It’s less about basic care instructions and more about building a real understanding of how plants function, which is useful whether you’re keeping your first pothos alive or managing a larger, more varied collection.
What sets it apart is the emphasis on understanding why plants behave the way they do, not just prescribing one-size-fits-all care instructions. This approach makes it easier to recognize early warning signs and address issues before they become serious problems.
Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone who wants a more thorough, connected understanding of plant care rather than piecemeal advice — regardless of how long you’ve been growing.
Wonderful shop to purchase from! I am
Learning so much and am thoroughly enjoying the beginners plant guide series. The pest guide helped me successfully defeat fungus gnats and taught me to transition to bottom watering. Thanks Mel!!
