Sansevieria cylindrica ‘Mikado’, also classified as Dracaena angolensis, is a structured succulent native to Central Africa known for its upright, cylindrical leaves that grow in a fan-like formation. The leaves are thick, smooth, and pointed, giving it a clean, architectural look that works well in modern spaces. Its compact, vertical growth makes it easy to place while still adding height and structure.

Light should be moderate to bright to maintain its form. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets steady light without harsh direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 8–12 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will slow growth and can cause the leaves to lean or lose their tight formation, while stronger light keeps the plant upright and structured.

Watering should be minimal and controlled. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it dry again. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it fast-draining. If the leaves begin to lean or spread apart, it is often reaching for more light. If the leaves wrinkle slightly or feel less firm, it is ready for water. Soft or mushy areas at the base point to excess moisture at the roots rather than underwatering.
