Monstera deliciosa ‘Mint’, a rare variegated form from tropical Central American lineage, is known for its large leaves marbled with soft mint-green, cream, and deeper green tones rather than stark white. What makes this plant special is that subtle, blended variegation—it looks washed or “minted” across the leaf, giving it a softer, more diffused pattern compared to high-contrast albo types, while still developing large, fenestrated leaves as it matures and climbs.
Light drives both variegation clarity and leaf size. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 8–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the mint pattern becomes dull and the plant shifts more green, and new leaves may come in smaller with fewer splits. Strong, even light helps maintain that soft variegation and encourages larger, more defined fenestrations.
Watering should stay balanced with strong airflow at the roots. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. This plant signals through its pattern—if new leaves come in mostly green, it’s reacting to light, not water. If leaves size down or lose fenestration, it needs more light or support. Browning or thinning in lighter sections can come from light intensity or moisture inconsistency, while soft stems at the base indicate the roots are staying too

from 816 reviewsBeautiful plant! Very well packaged and timely shipping!
The plant arrived in perfect condition and is beautiful. I love it!
Despite the “beginner” name, I’d say it’s genuinely useful at any experience level. It starts with a solid foundation for those just getting into houseplants, but the depth of the later guides means it doesn’t feel like it’s talking down to anyone with more experience. It’s less about basic care instructions and more about building a real understanding of how plants function, which is useful whether you’re keeping your first pothos alive or managing a larger, more varied collection.
What sets it apart is the emphasis on understanding why plants behave the way they do, not just prescribing one-size-fits-all care instructions. This approach makes it easier to recognize early warning signs and address issues before they become serious problems.
Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone who wants a more thorough, connected understanding of plant care rather than piecemeal advice — regardless of how long you’ve been growing.

Learning so much and am thoroughly enjoying the beginners plant guide series. The pest guide helped me successfully defeat fungus gnats and taught me to transition to bottom watering. Thanks Mel!!
