Alocasia azlanii, often called the "Red Mambo" or "Jewel Alocasia," is one of the most striking and rare alocasias prized for its iridescent foliage. Native to the rainforests of Borneo, this plant boasts deep burgundy to blackish-green leaves with metallic purple undertones and vivid red or pink veins. The glossy, almost mirror-like finish makes each leaf appear like living artwork. Its compact size and slow growth rate make it ideal for collectors looking for an exotic indoor showpiece.

To thrive indoors, Alocasia azlanii prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can easily scorch its delicate foliage, while too little light may cause the colors to fade or growth to stall. A few feet from an east- or west-facing window is ideal, or use a grow light if your space lacks natural brightness.

Alocasia azlanii requires warm temperatures (65–80°F), high humidity (above 60%), and well-draining, aerated soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy—overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering may cause leaf droop. Use distilled or rainwater to avoid leaf spotting from mineral build-up. Mist frequently or place near a humidifier to maintain lush, vibrant growth. With careful attention to its tropical needs, Alocasia azlanii will reward you with stunning foliage that stands out in any plant collection.
