Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Philodendron ‘Florida Ghost’, a hybrid of Philodendron pedatum lineage native to tropical South America, is known for its uniquely shaped, lobed leaves that emerge pale white to mint before maturing into green. The contrast between new and mature foliage creates a layered, evolving look, especially when multiple stages are present at once. As it climbs, the leaves become larger and more defined, giving it a strong, structured presence.

Light controls how long those pale “ghost” leaves hold their color. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Lower light will cause new leaves to turn green more quickly, while stronger light helps them stay lighter longer. Too much direct sun can burn the soft, newly emerged leaves.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy. If new leaves are emerging more green than white from the start, it is not getting enough light. If the plant produces smaller leaves with less defined lobes, it also needs more light or support. Pale new leaves that yellow or brown quickly during unfurling usually point to moisture inconsistency or stress rather than a variegation issue.
