Calathea Yellow Fusion is a variegated cultivar known for its marbled lime, cream, and deep green foliage with rich purple undersides. It is part of the Marantaceae family and behaves like a tropical understory plant, meaning it prefers stable humidity, filtered light, and consistent moisture. The yellow and cream variegation contains less chlorophyll, so it needs brighter indirect light than solid green calatheas, but it cannot tolerate harsh direct sun.

Watering should stay evenly moist but never saturated. Do not let it dry out completely. Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Bottom watering works well if the pot drains fully afterward. This plant is sensitive to mineral buildup, so filtered or distilled water is best to prevent crispy edges. If lower leaves yellow evenly it is often overwatering. If edges brown and curl it is usually low humidity, inconsistent watering, or mineral salts.

Direction of light should be bright indirect. An east window is ideal. South can work if pulled back 4–6 feet or filtered with sheers. Too much direct sun will fade the yellow pattern and cause burn spots. Too little light causes dull coloring and slower growth. Signals are expressive: drooping leaves that recover after watering mean it got too dry; soft stems and persistent yellowing mean roots are staying too wet. When happy, leaves remain upright, patterned clearly, and the plant will push new rolled leaves regularly.
