Light plays a major role in maintaining that rich red coloring. This plant thrives in bright, indirect light, ideally around 100–300 foot-candles indoors or under grow lights in the 5000K–6500K range. Too little light will cause the red to fade and the plant to lose contrast, while direct sun can scorch the delicate leaves quickly—especially along those dark edges. Watering and environment need to stay consistent for this one to thrive. Rex begonias prefer lightly moist soil, never soggy and never fully dried out—think evenly damp with good airflow around the roots.
