Pinguicula Collector Collection | Rooted’s Choice 6-Pack
Six Pinguicula, one box, and a very real possibility that this is how your butterwort obsession begins.
The Collector Collection includes six Pinguicula hand-selected from what I currently have available in the shop. Each plant is normally $25 individually, giving this collection a $150 plant value for $115. Your collection also includes the proper Pinguicula substrate and a container for each plant, so all six can be set up in the growing medium they need when they arrive.
With six plants to choose, I have more room to put together a collection that shows just how different Pinguicula can be. When inventory allows, I’ll select a mix of colors, leaf shapes, species and hybrids so you receive a collection that feels varied rather than six plants that look essentially the same.
That variety can be dramatic. One plant may stay tiny and lime green while another develops a much larger rosette. Some produce broad, rounded leaves while others grow long, narrow foliage. Depending on genetics, light and current growth phase, colors can include green, yellow, peach, pink, burgundy and purple. Some varieties also produce offsets readily, allowing a single rosette to gradually become an entire cluster.
During active carnivorous growth, Pinguicula produce glandular leaves covered in sparkling sticky mucilage. Small insects such as fungus gnats can become trapped on the foliage and provide nutrients to the plant. Many Mexican Pinguicula also move through a seasonal succulent phase, changing the type of leaves produced from the center and sometimes looking remarkably different from one part of the year to another.
Your six plants may arrive at different stages of growth. One may be covered in large carnivorous leaves while another is beginning its transition toward tighter succulent growth. That variation is normal and gives you the opportunity to watch different plants move through their growing cycles.
The exact varieties included depend on current Rooted inventory. Plants pictured are examples and specific varieties cannot be requested or guaranteed. When inventory allows, I will choose six different varieties and avoid duplicates within your collection.
