Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Pilea peperomioides, commonly called Chinese money plant, is a compact plant native to southern China known for its round, coin-shaped leaves held on long, slender stems. What makes this plant special is its clean, symmetrical look paired with its ability to produce small offshoots, or “pups,” around the base, allowing it to multiply and fill out over time.

Light supports both structure and leaf size. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady, gentle light without direct sun hitting the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can scorch or curl the leaves, while too little light will cause the plant to stretch and lose its compact form.

Watering should stay moderate and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it airy. If the plant begins to lean or produce smaller leaves, it is not getting enough light. If leaves yellow and drop from the lower portion with soft stems, it points to excess moisture at the roots rather than underwatering.
