Philodendron Heart Leaf 6”

Philodendron hederaceum, commonly called heart leaf philodendron, is a trailing vine native to Central and South America known for its soft, green, heart-shaped leaves that grow along flexible stems. What makes this plant special is its adaptability and full, cascading growth—it can trail, climb, or fill out depending on how it’s grown, making it one of the most versatile foliage plants.

Light drives how full and compact the vines stay. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady, gentle light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the vines will stretch with more space between leaves and the plant will lose density. Stronger light keeps the leaves closer together and the plant fuller.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. This plant shows thirst through slight softening and gentle curl of the leaves. If leaves yellow and drop while the soil is still wet, the roots are staying too saturated. Long, sparse vines point to light levels rather than watering issues.
