Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Philodendron giganteum ‘Green’, commonly called Green Giganteum Philodendron, is a large tropical aroid grown for its oversized heart-shaped foliage and massive mature form. Native to the Caribbean and tropical regions of South America, it grows in warm, humid rainforest environments where it climbs and spreads beneath the canopy. What makes this plant special is the enormous smooth green leaves that can become several feet wide when mature, giving it a bold jungle appearance. The foliage is broad, glossy to semi-matte, and heavily structured with thick petioles supporting each leaf upright.

Light requirements
Place Philodendron giganteum in an east or south window for the best growth and leaf development, positioned at the window or within 1 to 3 feet depending on intensity. A west window can work if slightly pulled back from harsh late-day sun, while a north window will slow growth and reduce leaf size. Under grow lights, use 5000K to 6500K and keep the light 8 to 12 inches above the canopy. It performs best around 300 to 800 foot-candles. Consistent bright light encourages larger leaves and stronger growth.

Watering & environment
Allow the soil to dry about halfway down before watering, and always check the root zone with a chopstick or meter. Use a chunky, well-draining mix with strong airflow around the roots. This plant prefers higher humidity, warm temperatures, and room to expand as it matures.

What your plant is telling you
If leaves begin to droop or feel thinner, it is ready for water. If leaves yellow quickly or the base softens, the soil is staying too wet. If new leaves emerge smaller or the plant stretches, it needs more consistent light or additional root space.
