Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Philodendron bipennifolium ‘Variegated’, native to tropical South America, is a climbing aroid known for its distinctive horse-head shaped leaves marked with creamy white to yellow variegation. The foliage is smooth and glossy, and as it matures and climbs, the leaves become larger with more defined lobes. Each leaf shows a different pattern, giving it a high-contrast, collectible look.

Light supports both growth and stable variegation. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light can lead to more green-dominant leaves and slower growth, while too much direct sun can burn the lighter sections.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy. If new leaves are coming in with less variegation and more green, it is not getting enough light. If the plant produces smaller leaves with less defined lobes, it also needs more light or stronger support. Browning on the lighter sections is typically from light or moisture stress rather than a disease.
