Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Monstera siltepecana is a climbing aroid native to the tropical forests of Mexico and Honduras, where it begins life creeping along the forest floor before climbing trees in search of brighter conditions. Juvenile leaves are one of its biggest attractions, displaying a beautiful silver-blue sheen with dark green veins that almost look painted on. As the plant matures and climbs, the leaves become larger, greener, and can eventually develop fenestrations, making it look quite different from the young plants commonly sold in shops.

Place Monstera siltepecana within 1–3 feet of an east-facing or south-facing window. It appreciates medium to bright natural light and will grow faster, maintain stronger silver coloration, and produce larger leaves when given adequate light. Under grow lights, use a full-spectrum bulb in the 5000K–6500K range. High-output lights should be positioned 8–12 inches above the foliage, while medium-strength lights work best at 10–14 inches. Giving this plant a moss pole or support to climb will encourage larger leaves and more mature growth.

Water when the root zone is approaching dryness, never on a schedule. A chopstick, clear nursery pot, or moisture meter will give a much more accurate reading than a finger test. Monstera siltepecana prefers a chunky, airy mix of equal parts succulent soil, coarse orchid bark, and perlite. Higher humidity will help keep new leaves unfurling smoothly, but the plant adapts well to average household conditions. If growth becomes stretched with long spaces between leaves, it is asking for more light. If the silver pattern begins fading and new growth is noticeably smaller, it may also benefit from increased light or a climbing support.
