Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Monstera esqueleto, native to Central and South America, is a climbing aroid known for its large, delicate leaves with extreme fenestration that creates a skeletal, lace-like structure. What makes this plant special is how dramatically open the leaves become as they mature, with wide sections missing between the veins, giving it a light, airy, high-contrast look that stands out from other monsteras.

Light directly controls how large and perforated the leaves become. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it receives bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 8–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, new leaves come in smaller with fewer or tighter holes. Strong, even light produces larger leaves with more dramatic openings.

Watering should stay consistent but not heavy. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep airflow high. This plant shows its needs through leaf development—if new leaves are smaller or less fenestrated, it is reacting to light, not water. If the vine stretches with longer spacing, it needs more light. Yellowing from the base while soil is wet points to excess moisture, while thin, fragile leaves often reflect inconsistent conditions rather than thirst.
