Monstera deliciosa Albo Variegata is a variegated climbing form of Monstera deliciosa native to Central American tropical forests. It grows as a hemiepiphyte beginning low and climbing toward brighter canopy light as it matures. The white sectors contain no chlorophyll which means the plant has less total energy capacity and depends on strong consistent light to maintain leaf size and fenestration. As it climbs and stabilizes on support leaves become larger thicker and more deeply split.

Water using your soak and dry rhythm checking the root zone with a chopstick or moisture meter before watering. The soil should be chunky and highly aerated using a blend of quality potting base bark and perlite to protect oxygen flow around the roots. Water thoroughly then allow the root zone to dry down before watering again. Yellowing lower leaves with soft texture often signal soil staying too wet while smaller leaves reduced fenestration and fading variegation indicate insufficient light or extended dryness. Browning on white sections commonly reflects inconsistent moisture or mineral buildup.

Direction of light should be strong and stable to support variegation. A south window within three to five feet of the glass works best depending on seasonal intensity. An east window within one to two feet is also effective though growth may be slightly slower. North exposure is typically not strong enough to maintain bold white contrast unless directly against the glass and supplemented. If using a grow light choose five thousand to sixty five hundred Kelvin positioned twelve to eighteen inches above the foliage for ten to twelve hours daily. When positioned correctly the plant produces larger fenestrated leaves with clear white sectors and steady upward development.
