Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Pachira aquatica, commonly called money tree, is a tropical plant native to Central and South America known for its braided trunk and glossy, hand-shaped leaves. Each leaf is made up of multiple leaflets that fan outward, giving it a clean, balanced look. It grows upright and can become a full, tree-like plant over time, making it a popular choice for both decor and gifting.

Light supports full, even growth. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will cause the plant to stretch and lean, while stronger light helps maintain a fuller canopy and tighter growth.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy. If the plant starts dropping leaves suddenly, it is often reacting to changes in environment or watering inconsistency. If new growth comes in smaller or more spaced out, it is not getting enough light. Yellowing leaves with soft stems point to excess moisture, while firm leaves dropping can be stress from change rather than watering alone.
