Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Hedera helix ‘Golden Ingot’, commonly called Golden Ingot Ivy, is a compact ivy cultivar grown for its thick, sculptural leaves and bold golden variegation. Native to Europe in its species form, this variety has been selected for its dense, upright to slightly trailing growth and uniquely shaped foliage. What makes this plant special is the chunky, slightly cupped leaves with golden-yellow centers and green margins, giving it a heavier, more structured look than traditional ivy. It stays tighter and less vine-like, making it useful for both containers and controlled trailing.

Light requirements
Place Golden Ingot Ivy in an east or north window for the best balance of growth and color, positioned at the window or within 1 to 3 feet depending on intensity. A west window can work with some distance from direct sun, while a south window should be filtered or pulled back to prevent leaf scorch. Under grow lights, use 5000K to 6500K and keep the light 10 to 14 inches above the canopy. It performs best around 150 to 400 foot-candles. Brighter indirect light will keep the variegation strong and the growth compact.

Watering & environment
Allow the soil to dry about halfway down before watering, and always check the root zone with a chopstick or meter. This plant does not tolerate staying overly wet and prefers a well-draining mix with good airflow. It adapts to average humidity but benefits from slightly cooler conditions compared to tropical plants.

What your plant is telling you
If leaves become crispy or dry, it is likely drying out too much or humidity is too low. If leaves yellow and drop, especially from the base, the soil is staying too wet. If the golden color fades and growth becomes leggy, it needs more consistent light.
