Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Hoya ‘Silver Splash’ Hybrid is a tropical epiphytic vine grown for its thick, waxy foliage heavily splashed with shimmering silver. Native Hoya species originate throughout Southeast Asia and Australia, where they climb trees and anchor themselves to bark rather than growing in the ground. The silver flecking on the leaves varies from plant to plant, making each specimen unique. Given time and the right conditions, mature plants produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers that emerge from permanent flower spurs, rewarding patient growers with repeated blooms year after year.

Place Hoya ‘Silver Splash’ Hybrid within 1–3 feet of an east-facing or south-facing window. Bright light encourages compact growth, stronger silver splashing, and increases the likelihood of flowering. Under grow lights, use a full-spectrum bulb in the 5000K–6500K range. High-output lights should be positioned 8–12 inches above the foliage, while medium-strength lights work best at 10–14 inches. Hoyas appreciate bright conditions but should be protected from prolonged intense afternoon sun that can scorch the leaves.

Water when the root zone is approaching dryness, never on a schedule. Use a chopstick, moisture meter, or clear nursery pot to determine when the roots are ready for water. Grow in a chunky mix of equal parts succulent soil, coarse orchid bark, and perlite to provide the excellent drainage and airflow Hoyas prefer. The thick leaves store water, allowing the plant to tolerate short dry periods, but consistently saturated soil can quickly lead to root decline. A snug pot is often beneficial and can encourage flowering once the plant matures.

Hoya ‘Silver Splash’ Hybrid communicates through both its foliage and growth habit. Firm, thick leaves and steady vine growth indicate the plant is healthy, while soft or wrinkled leaves usually signal it has remained dry for too long. If new growth becomes long with widely spaced leaves, the plant is often asking for more light. One of the most important signals comes after flowering—never remove the flower spurs. Hoyas rebloom from the same spurs year after year, so leaving them intact allows the plant to continue producing flowers each blooming season.

Your Hoya plant is non-toxic to humans and pets.
