Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Homalomena rubescens ‘Pink Diamond’, commonly called Pink Diamond homalomena, is a tropical plant native to Southeast Asia known for its broad, heart-shaped leaves splashed with shades of pink, cream, and green. What makes this plant special is its soft pastel variegation—each leaf develops a unique pattern, often combining multiple colors on the same leaf while maintaining the lush, full appearance homalomenas are known for.

Light drives both variegation and leaf size. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the pink coloration fades and new leaves come in greener with less contrast. Strong, even light helps maintain the brightest coloration while supporting larger foliage.

Watering should stay consistent but not excessive. Allow the top portion of the soil to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to maintain airflow around the roots. This plant prefers steady moisture but dislikes soggy conditions. If the leaves begin to droop while the soil is dry, it's ready for water. If yellowing leaves appear while the soil remains wet, the roots are staying too saturated.

This plant communicates through its color and leaf posture. Bright pink variegation and upright leaves indicate strong light and healthy roots. If new growth emerges mostly green, it is asking for more light. Browning on pink or cream sections can result from inconsistent moisture or excessive light intensity. Soft stems or a collapsing crown point to root stress from staying too wet rather than needing more water.
