Farfuglum Curly 4” Clay

Farfugium japonicum Curly, native to Japan and Korea, is a bold foliage plant known for its large, glossy, round leaves that sit on upright stems, creating a clean, structured look. The leaves are thick and leathery with a deep green shine, and some forms can show spotting or variegation. It grows in a clumping habit, staying full and compact while still giving a strong, tropical presence.

Light should be bright but gentle to maintain leaf size and finish. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun hitting the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can scorch or dull the glossy surface, while too little light will result in smaller leaves and slower growth.

Watering should stay consistent with slightly higher moisture than most houseplants. Keep the soil evenly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep airflow while holding moisture. If leaves begin to droop while the soil is still wet, it points to excess moisture at the roots. If new leaves are coming in smaller or the plant loses its full look, it is not getting enough light. Crisping edges while the leaf stays firm often indicate dry air or inconsistent watering rather than overwatering.
