Chlorophytum Mandarin - Spider Plant 4”

Chlorophytum amaniense ‘Mandarin’, commonly called Mandarin Spider Plant or Fire Flash, is a tropical foliage plant in the spider plant family grown for its bold orange petioles and upright growth habit. Native to East Africa, it grows in warm, shaded forest environments. What makes this plant special is the strong contrast between the bright orange stems and deep green, lance-shaped leaves, giving it a clean, structured, modern look. Unlike traditional spider plants, it stays compact and does not trail or produce long runners.

Light requirements
Place Chlorophytum ‘Mandarin’ in an east or west window for the best balance of light and color, positioned at the window or within 1 to 3 feet depending on intensity. A south window can work if pulled back to prevent harsh direct exposure, while a north window will slow growth and dull the orange stems. Under grow lights, use 5000K to 6500K and keep the light 10 to 14 inches above the canopy. It performs best around 150 to 400 foot-candles.

Watering & environment
Allow the soil to dry about halfway down before watering, and always check the root zone with a chopstick or meter rather than the surface. Use a well-draining mix and avoid letting the plant sit in excess moisture. It adapts to average humidity but performs best with moderate humidity and steady airflow.

What your plant is telling you
If leaves begin to soften or slightly droop, it is ready for water. If the base becomes soft or leaves yellow, the soil is staying too wet. If the orange color fades or growth slows, it needs more consistent light.
